Alright.
Not that I really have all that much spare time on my hands with two sweet kiddos...
but I've always loved reading. My only problem is that I start lots of books and never finish them. So, as a sort of resolution, I plan to spend more of my (limited) spare time reading rather than doing more fruitless endeavors.
Here's where you come in...
I'd love to get recommendations from you, my friends and family, for books that you've enjoyed, learned from, and been challenged by. I'm still new to the blog thing, so my best idea for how to get those ideas from you is for you to click "Comments" below this post and leave me a suggestion. Would you please include the title, author, and possibly the type of book (fiction, theology, parenting, mystery, history, whatever)? Thanks!
While I can't promise that I'll be able to get to all of them, I would LOVE some ideas, and besides, it'll be a fun way to learn more about all of you "peeps". (aka people) I think I'll keep myself accountable and add a "Currently Reading" section on the sidebar for you guys to see what Scott and I are perusing.

Fun with "the Fam"
At the beginning of the month, we had a wonderful time when the McDonald Clan drove up from Canton to visit!
Nanny and Dandy came first and got in some time with the "SqueakerBug"
and the "HuggyBug".
Note Dandy in the process of giving Anna his infamous "pats", which quickly eased her off into dreamland.
Towards the end of the week, we got an added treat as Uncle Drew, Aunt Debbie, Ashley, and Mandi came to visit also!
What a blessing to be able to have family come and visit even though we're far away!

What a Blessing
Today (well, I guess yesterday, technically--Anna has kept me up late) was the seventh anniversary of the day Scott and I were married. I am so thankful for the blessing of a husband who loves the Lord, loves his family, and desires to do what is right, no matter what. Caleb eagerly anticipates the moment Scott arrives home from work, because that means it's Daddy Time, and there are sure to be moments of wrestling, "sleeper holds", hide and seek, and reading books together. I can't wait to see how his little girl interacts with him in days to come. I'm reminded of the chorus of one of my grandpa's favorite hymns...

10 Things Heard Frequently in our Household
(in no particular order)
10. Explosive infant diapers (the kind after which you immediately check for leaks on your lap)
9. "Heyyyy...Daddy? Uhhh Mama?" (or vice versa), which precedes most sentences out of Caleb's mouth. (or the quick version...Hey Da-ee, Uh Ma?...dropping the d's and my last 'ma')
8. Grunts from Anna
7. "WHY can't the Mavericks make the key shots?"
6. "But I WANT to. I really NEED to." or the ever popular "I don't WANT to. I don't FEEL like it." -Caleb, 3 yrs old
5. "Let's play hide and seek!"
4. "I saw the coolest new cell phone on the internet today." Love you Scott!
3. "Mama, can you say, 'Anna's big brother can (insert action here)'?", after which, we sing Caleb's praises aloud to little Anna, who usually answers by grunting or sticking out her tongue.

Caleb Turns Three
I can't believe our little guy is already three. He relished the chance to have a day of focused attention on himself now that he has a little sister that demands a lot of our time. He's lost a lot of his "toddler looks" and is beginning to look so much like a BOY-boy. (Not to mention that he seems so much more huge now that Anna is here!) We had already seen Mimi, Pawpaw, and Uncle Bryan for the weeks surrounding Anna's arrival, and we saw Nanny, Dandy, and cousin Ashley very briefly on Anna's birthday. Therefore, Caleb's birthday on May 26 was a small family event. As soon as he woke up, he announced to us that it was his birthday, and where was his birthday cake? We opened his presents later that day: a bike helmet and seat for riding Dad's bike from Nanny and Dandy,
a basketball goal and his "very own broom" for helping outside from Mimi and Pawpaw, and digging tools from Mama and Daddy. Boy was he thrilled! He started wearing big-boy pants that day as well, and made it through nap time with no accidents! Whoop! Going #2, on the other hand, is no walk in the park. I understand that may be a boy thing. We're still working on that.
Welcome to Our Spot!
It's here! The inaugural post on the mcdonaldspot... We'll see how good I get at doing this while spending time with my sweet boy and brand-new sweet girl! (I have two kids!?!) Caleb is doing really well being a big brother! He still has a 3 yr old's attention span with Anna (can you say 10 seconds?), but he loves to help out. Anna is sleeping well for a newborn. With a month behind us, she will nap all day, off and on, and then around 11 or 12 at night, she'll sleep for five hours before waking up to eat, then she'll sleep for at least another 3. I'm getting a decent amount of rest, considering. I love every minute with the two of them. Scott is eating up his time with his little girl. He's already wrapped around her tiny little finger.
